What Does Mouse Accuracy Test Measure?
The Mouse Accuracy Test measures how precisely you click on moving targets during a timed session. It tracks every hit and miss using browser-based click event detection, calculating your final accuracy percentage from total attempts. The tool also records your average reaction time per target in milliseconds, giving you a complete picture of both click precision and cursor control. Whether you’re checking your aim training progress or testing a new mouse, this tool gives you instant, reliable data without any downloads or plugins.
What Mice Work With This Tool?
This tool works with any mouse connected to a desktop or laptop, including wired USB mice, wireless 2.4GHz mice, and Bluetooth mice. Gaming mice from brands like Logitech, Razer, SteelSeries, Corsair, and Zowie all function correctly. Trackpads on laptops and MacBooks also register clicks, though precision will naturally differ from a dedicated mouse. There are no driver requirements or hardware-specific settings needed. As long as your pointer device registers standard click events in a browser, the tool will detect and score every input accurately.
How To Use This Tool
Click the Start Test button to begin the session. Twenty targets will appear inside the dark arena one at a time, each shown in green. Click each green target as quickly and accurately as you can. Clicking outside a target counts as a miss and shows a red ring at your click position. Once all 20 targets are completed, your accuracy percentage and average hit time appear automatically. You can run multiple rounds back to back and your best accuracy score is saved until you hit Reset.
Understanding Your Results
Your accuracy score is calculated as hits divided by total clicks, shown as a percentage. Scoring 80% or above means your cursor control and mouse aim are at a strong level. Scores between 60% and 79% are average and suggest room to improve mouse movement consistency. Below 60% usually points to issues with cursor speed, mouse sensitivity, or grip technique. Your average hit time in milliseconds shows how quickly you react to each new target — lower is better. Track both numbers across multiple rounds to spot genuine improvement in your overall pointing accuracy.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is a good mouse accuracy score?
A: A score of 80% or above is considered strong for most users. Competitive gamers and professionals typically aim for 90% and higher with consistent practice.
Q: Does mouse DPI affect my accuracy score?
A: Yes, very high DPI settings can cause overshooting targets and lower your score. Finding a comfortable sensitivity level before testing gives you the most accurate results.
Q: Why are my clicks not registering on the target?
A: This usually happens if you click the edge of the target just outside its circular hitbox. Aim for the center of each green circle to guarantee a registered hit.
Q: Can I use this test on a laptop trackpad?
A: Yes, the tool detects all standard click inputs including trackpad taps. However, trackpad precision is generally lower than a mouse so scores may differ significantly.
Q: Does this tool work on mobile or touchscreen?
A: The test is designed for mouse clicks and may not respond accurately to touchscreen taps. For best results, use a desktop or laptop with a connected mouse.
Q: How many rounds should I take before trusting my score?
A: Three to five rounds gives a reliable average. Your first round often scores lower due to warm-up, so later rounds tend to reflect your true accuracy level more accurately.
